Motion Time Lapse Photography | Sharpsburg, MD

If you know me, you know I love time lapse photography. It's one of my absolute favorite things to do with a camera. Perhaps my next favorite camera move is the slider video shot. So it really only made sense to combine the two, right? I sure thought so.

So how do I combine the two? Well, you can buy very expensive motorized sliders on B&H or Amazon, but I decided to be a little more creative. Rather than make an expensive purchase, I decided to build one. Normally, these motorized sliders can be in the thousands. I built mine for about $200.

The biggest purchase was the slider and the motor. However, I already owned the slider, so it wasn't a new purchase. I believe I paid around $90 for it. The motor was about the same. After I bought a couple bolts, screws, metal brackets, and the longest shoelaces I could find, I was pretty much set.

It did take me a few tries to get the shoelace to coil correctly, but after I was able to get it to where it was consistently not getting hung up or caught, the hand-made motorized slider has been great! I am excited to use this on my next wedding video or possibly even wedding photo session. Watch these results as I take some great shots at the Antietam Battlefield in Sharpsburg, MD!
